Phases
Group a project's work orders into stages, and understand phase deletion rules.
Phases are the stages of a project — for example Mobilization, Execution, and Commissioning. Each work order can belong to one phase, and costs roll up per phase so you can see where in the project the money is going.
Adding phases
Phases can be added when you create the project, or later from the project page:
- On the project page, find the Phases section.
- Click Add phase (project manager roles and admins).
- Enter a name and a sequence number (the order of the phase in the project).
- Save.
Editing and reordering
Each phase can be edited — change its name or sequence number from the phase's Edit action. The sequence controls the phase's position in the breakdown.
Deleting a phase
You can delete a phase as long as no work orders reference it. If work orders are attached to the phase, deletion is refused:
This phase is referenced by work orders and cannot be deleted. Move those work orders to another phase first.
That is deliberate — deleting a phase with work attached would scramble the cost breakdown. Reassign (or delete) the work orders first, then delete the phase. Deletion cannot be undone.
Phase costs
The project page shows a Phase breakdown: labor and materials per phase. Work orders without a phase are grouped under Unallocated, so the project total always equals the phase totals plus the unallocated bucket.
Phase status
Phases are created in Planned status. There are no phase status transitions in the app today — phases stay Planned regardless of the work orders inside them.
